Tryouts Scheduled for April 8-9, 2011

The cheerleading clinic will be held on Friday, April 8 from 7-10 p.m. and tryouts will be on Saturday, April 9 (review material at 9 a.m. with tryouts at 11 a.m.). Wear a solid white shirt and black shorts for tryouts.

 1. Cheer - Perform one cheer that highlights basic motion and cheerleading techniques (including the display of spirit before cheer). You may incorporate other skills as well. Cheer will be taught at try-out clinic and will be performed in small groups of 3-5.

2. Sideline - Perform one sideline that highlights basic motion and cheerleading techniques. Words to this sideline will be taught at the clinic. You will make up motions to the sideline. This will be performed during the individual portion of the tryouts.

3. Jumps - A toe touch is required. You may choose to perform other jumps as well (i.e. herkies, hurdlers, etc.) that highlight your abilities. This will be performed during the individual portion of the tryouts.

4. Pom Routine - The pom routine will be taught on Friday night of the clinic.

5. Tumbling - A tumbling segment highlighting your gymnastic strengths is required. The following is recommended: standing back hand spring(s), round-off back hand spring - back tuck. While it is not required to have each of the above skills, any gymnastics you are able to do will help us to determine your overall abilities. Do not let this portion of the requirements prevent you from applying! Tumbling is not a requirement but is strongly encouraged. This is performed during individual portion of the tryouts.
