Jim Morris pitched for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1999-2000.
SEARCY - Jim Morris, the former Major League Baseball pitcher whose career was made famous by the movie "The Rookie," spoke to the Harding baseball team Wednesday.
Morris became a big-league rookie in 1999 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at the age of 35 after being out of baseball for almost 10 years. He pitched two seasons for the Devil Rays before retiring after the 2000 season.
Morris was in Searcy this week for the Harding Lectureships.
