Complete Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Harding volleyball senior Manuela Nesheva picked up her second consecutive Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Year award Wednesday. Nesheva, senior outside hitter Sarah Phipps and junior defensive specialist Emily Tate were also selected to the West Division All-GSC team.

Nesheva, a native of Lukovit, Bulgaria, is the only Harding player and only the fourth GSC player ever to win multiple Player of the Year honors. It is the third time she has been selected to First Team All-GSC team. Nesheva became the Harding all-time kill’s leader earlier this season. This season, she has averaged 4.43 kills per set, ranking her second in the GSC and fifth in NCAA Division II.

Tate, a native of Sachse, Texas, was selected to first team All-GSC for the first time in her career. Tate has led the Harding defense all season, averaging 4.74 digs per set, ranking her second in the GSC. She also leads the GSC in service aces per set, averaging 0.51.

Phipps picks up second team All-GSC honors for the first time in her career. Phipps, a native of Memphis, Tenn., was second on the team in kills per set, averaging 2.31. She has had more than 10 kills and 10 digs in 10 matches this season.

Harding will host the GSC tournament this weekend, Nov. 13 and 14. The Lady Bisons will face Valdosta State in the opening round Friday at 7:30 p.m.
