SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team scored 25 points off 34 West Georgia turnovers to take a 65-40 victory Saturday in non-conference action in the Rhodes Field House. The win moves the Lady Bisons to 2-4 on the season.
Junior guard Bailey St. Clair led all scoring with 15 points hitting 6-of-8 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free throw line. She also had a team high eight rebounds for the Lady Bisons.
The Lady Bisons full court pressed the Wolves for most of the game which drained the West Georgia physically. Harding started to pull away late in the first half as they took a 36-19 lead into the locker room. After the break, the Lady Bisons began to increase their lead hitting two quick buckets. The Harding defense didn't allow West Georgia to get any closer than 15. The Lady Bisons led by as much as 25 points in the game.
The Lady Bisons defense held the Wolves to only 28 percent from the field (14-of-50). Harding had a season high 19 steals in the game which ties for the seventh most in a game. St. Clair led the Lady Bisons with seven, which ties for third most in a game.
Harding hit 21-of-46 shots from the field (45.7 percent) and hit 21-of-26 free throw (80.8 percent).
The Wolves were led by Anelia Murray who had 10 points. The Lady Bisons held Kim Jones, who averages a double-double for the Wolves, to four points and three rebounds.
Freshman guard Katie Dunn had a career high 12 points, hitting 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
The Lady Bisons will be back action as they host West Alabama Monday night at 5:30 p.m., in the Rhodes Field House.
