SEARCY – Three Harding baseball players were named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association 2010 Division II Preseason All-America Honorable Mention Team on Friday.
The honorees were sophomore second baseman Chase Presley, sophomore starting pitcher Kyle Cline and senior starting pitcher Brodie Brumley.
Presley, a native of Jackson, Tenn., was second on the team with a .345 batting average and .421 on-base percentage in 2009. He struck out only four times in 110 at-bats and also tied for second on the team with 31 runs scored.
Cline, who hails from Ormond Beach, Fla., had an 8-4 record last season and a 4.69 ERA. He led the team with six complete games and 57 strikeouts in 78.2 innings.
Brumley, a native of Scottsboro, Ala., was 6-5 with a 6.00 ERA. He had 50 strikeouts in 69 innings. Brumley recently had elbow surgery on his pitching arm and will miss the 2010 season.
Harding opens the 2010 campaign Feb. 6 at Abilene Christian.
