Harding Track Competes at Mississippi Open

OXFORD, Miss. - Harding freshman Philip Biwott ran an NCAA provisional time in placing second in the 3000-meter steeplechase Saturday at the Mississippi Open. Biwott's time of 9 minutes, 17.69 seconds was the 16th-fastest time in Division II this season, leaving him on the bubble to receive an invitation to the NCAA Outdoor National Meet.
The Bisons had four other student-athletes compete in the meet. Brian Jones placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet, 4.75 inches. Ryan Johnson ran 1:57.59 to place 18th in the 800 meters. Justin Durham ran 2:08.18 and finished 25th. James Cheruiyot was ninth in the 5000 meters in 15:02.91.
Three Lady Bisons ran at the meet. Rysper Sirma placed third in the steeplechase in 11:22.31. Gladys Kimtai placed sixth in the 5000 meters in 18:31.17, and Mary Samoei was 17th in the 1500 meters in 5:03.18.
