SEARCY – Jason Nappi, a 6-foot-1, 210 pound third baseman/outfielder from Birmingham, Ala., has signed with Harding University and will transfer from Mississippi State for the 2010 season. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining as a Bison.
“We are extremely excited to add player of Jason’s caliber to our program,” said Harding coach Dr. Patrick McGaha. “He is a proven hitter at the Division I level and will provide us with a power bat in the middle of the lineup.”
As a freshman at Mississippi State, Nappi hit .274 with eight home runs and 37 RBI. He set the Southeastern Conference RBI record with 11 runs batted in during a 3-for-5, three-home run effort against UAB. Last season as a sophomore, Nappi hit .290 for the Bulldogs.
Following his freshman season, Nappi played for Brewster in the prestigious Cape Cod Collegiate League, hitting .268 with 19 RBI.
Nappi was a three-year starter and two-time All-State honoree at Mountain Brook High School. He hit .505 with nine home runs and 36 RBI as a senior.
