SEARCY – Patrick Nappi, a 6-foot, 180-pound, right-handed pitcher from Birmingham, Ala., has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the Harding University baseball team for the 2010 season.
Nappi has one season of eligibility remaining and is transferring to Harding from the University of Alabama. He redshirted there in 2008 and did not play last season. Nappi played two seasons at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 2006 and 2007.
As a sophomore, Nappi made 27 relief appearances and posted a 4-2 record with three saves and a 2.58 ERA. He struck out 54 in 38.1 innings and helped lead Shelton State to the NJCAA College World Series. As a freshman, he had a 1.16 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 23.1 innings covering 17 relief appearances.
Nappi is a 2005 graduate of Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham where he was a three-year starter for Coach Lee Gann.
Patrick will join his brother Jason Nappi on the Harding squad. Jason transferred to Harding from Mississippi State earlier in the summer.
