SEARCY – Harding University senior wide receiver Kurt Adams was named to the 2009 D2Football.com Preseason All-America Team on Monday. Adams and senior all-purpose back Zac Ross were also on the Preseason All-GSC Team.
Adams, a first-team honoree from Searcy, Ark., had 61 receptions and set a new school record with 1,122 receiving yards in 2008. He scored 11 touchdowns and ranked seventh in NCAA Division II with 102.0 receiving yards per game.
Ross, a native of Muskogee, Okla., led Harding with 65 receptions last season. He ranked third in the GSC with a punt return average of 13.31 yards per return, and ranked 10th in the GSC with a kickoff return average of 21.69 yards per return. He ranked fifth in the GSC with 129.8 all-purpose yards per game.
Several players from teams on Harding's schedule this season also earned All-America honors. They included: LB Lardester Hicks-Green (Delta State), LB Mike Johnson (North Alabama), P Will Batson (North Alabama), OL Torrence Wright (Arkansas Tech), and LB Jared Brawner (Missouri Southern).
D2Football.com selected Arkansas-Monticello quarterback Scott Buisson as its GSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Delta State linebacker Lardester Hicks-Green as Defensive Player of the Year.
