Women’s Soccer ties Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 1-1

SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team opened the 2009 season with a 1-1 tie in double overtime against Division I opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Lady Bisons jumped out on top with two minutes left in the first half when junior forward Meghan Przeczewski sent a cross to the middle of the goalkeepers box which was accidently kicked in by a Lady Lion defender for a own goal.

Thirteen minutes into the second half, Lady Lion forward Erika Forbes sent a shot from the top of the box that found the back of the net for the equalizer.

The two teams ended regulation in a 1-1 tie.

In overtime play, Harding outshot Arkansas-Pine Bluff 5-3. The Lady Bisons had a chance to win in the second overtime when junior midfielder Brianna Meek took a shot from 30 yards out that the UAPB goalkeeper tipped over the cross bar for the save.

Harding junior goalkeeper Hannah Douglas had a career high seven saves for the Lady Bisons.

The Lady Bisons are back in action next Friday traveling to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury at 5 p.m.
