SEARCY –The Harding men’s basketball team will make their fourth straight Gulf South Conference Tournament appearance this Friday night as they take on Alabama-Huntsville at 7:30 p.m., at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss. It will be the eighth overall appearance for Harding and it will be the first time facing Alabama-Huntsville in the postseason.

COACHES: Harding is coached by Jeff Morgan, who enters his 18th season as the Head coach of the Bisons. Morgan has compiled a 304-202 record at HU. He has 287 of those victories in his 17 seasons at Harding.

Alabama-Huntsville is coached by Lennie Acuff, who enters his 12th season at the helm of the Chargers. Acuff has compiled a 202-134 record at UAH.

THE BISONS: Harding has only been the No. 4 seed one other time at the GSC Tournament. The Bisons were the No. 4 seed at the 2002 Tournament, its first as a GSC member.

The Bisons have won a season-best six straight games, tied for the fourth-longest streak in program history. Harding has also won eight of its last nine games, trailing at some point in seven of them.

Kevin Brown was named 2nd Team All-GSC on Tuesday. It was the second straight season Brown has earned All-Conference honors. Matt Hall, Aaron Farley and current teammate Trent Morgan are the only other multiple-time All-GSC Bisons.

Trent Morgan had two steals against Delta State and moved into fourth place in career steals in GSC history with 179.

Harding was selected third in the GSC West Division in the GSC Preseason Coaches Poll ... the top four teams in each division advance to the GSC Tournament (a change from five in previous years) ... Senior Trent Morgan and junior Kevin Brown were both selected Preseason All-GSC.

Harding and Alabama-Huntsville are playing for the 14th time with the Bisons leading the all-time series 7-6. The Bisons won the only neutral site meeting 83-80 in Montevallo, Ala., in 2002. Harding has won two of the last three meetings.

Harding leads all GSC West teams with 26.4 free throws attempted per game. Against Delta State, Harding shot 53 free throws for the second time this season, tied for the fifth-most in a Harding single game. Harding has shot 713 free throws this season. The record is 880 in 1995-96 (29.3 pg).

Kevin Brown scored 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line at Ouachita Baptist. It was his seventh 20-point game of the season and the 12th of his career.

THE CHARGERS:
Alabama-Huntsville is a member of the Gulf South Conference East Division and is located in Huntsville, Ala.  The Chargers were selected third in the GSC preseason poll.

Alabama-Huntsville leads the GSC and ranks seventh in Division II in free throw percentage, shooting 76.7 percent. The Chargers also lead the GSC and rank 11th in Division II with a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Charger guard Josh Magette ranks second in the GSC and 10th nationally with 6.3 assists per game. Jaime Smith leads the GSC and ranks 17th nationally in free throw percentage at 88.0 percent.

Alabama-Huntsville ranks last in the GSC in steals per game (4.8) and blocks per game (2.1). The Chargers are 262nd of 270 teams in Division II in steals.
