SEARCY – The Harding women’s golf team had its best season ever in 2009-10 and reaped the rewards Wednesday as Whitney Ohlhausen, So-Yun Kim and head coach Dr. Nicky Boyd all received honors from the Gulf South Conference.

Ohlhausen, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, was named GSC Freshman of the Year and was named First-Team All-GSC. Kim, a freshman from Seoul, South Korea, was named Second-Team All-GSC, and Boyd was named GSC Co-Coach of the Year.

Harding placed third at the GSC Championship earlier this week, the team’s best-ever finish. The Lady Bisons also won three of the nine tournaments in played.

Ohlhausen joins Brandi Watkins (2009) as First-Team All-GSC honorees in Harding’s five-year program history. She set the school record this season with an 80.3 stroke average in the nine events she played. Ohlhausen had five top five finishes, including an individual victory at the Bison Fall Golf Classic and two second-place finishes. She earned All-Tournament honors and was the top freshman with a fourth-place finish at the GSC Championships.

Kim was second on the team with an 81.2 stroke average. She had six top-five finishes in the nine events she played in 2009-10. Her best was a second-place finish in the Natural State Golf Classic. Kim recorded a program first with the first round of par or better by a woman’s golfer, a 71 at the Lady Red Wolf Classic.

Boyd is in his second season as the women’s golf coach after 14 years as the head coach of the men’s team.
