SEARCY - The Harding women's tennis team fell 6-3 to Delta State on Friday in a match that determined the Gulf South Conference West Division champion. Harding earned a second place finish in the West, its third in the last four years.
Harding fell to 21-4 overall and 5-1 in GSC West play. The Lady Bisons will be the No. 2 seed from the West Division and will meet West Alabama, the No. 3 seed from the East Divison, in the GSC Tournament on April 17 in Montgomery, Ala.
Harding won one doubles match and two singles match against Delta State, the 28th-ranked team in Division II. Ellie Hammons and Chelsea Hunt rallied to win 9-8 in a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles. Hunt (No. 5) and Gina Cielo (No. 6) won their singles matches.
