SEARCY – A trio of Harding men’s track and field runners earned places on the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II All-Academic Team on Friday.
Philip Biwott, a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya; Frank Bolling, a senior from Lawrenceville, Ga.; and Ryan Johnson, a sophomore from Nashville, Tenn., each received the honor.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either the NCAA Division II indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard.
Biwott has a 3.31 grade point average as a management information systems major. He ran NCAA provisional times in both the outdoor 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters and earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the 5,000 meters at the national meet.
A preaching and management double major, Bolling has a 3.49 grade point average. He set a new Harding indoor 800 meters record by running an NCAA provisional time of 1:53.04 at Iowa State.
Johnson was part of Harding’s indoor distance medley relay team that ran a provisional qualifying time of 10:06.58 at Iowa State. He is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.82 grade point average.
