Alexander and Galloway Receive Preseason All-GSC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Harding senior men’s soccer players Gabe Alexander and Connor Galloway received Gulf South Conference Preseason All-GSC honors Thursday in a release by the conference office. The Bisons were picked fifth in the GSC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Ouachita Baptist and Harding each finished with 12 points (fourth place) but because the Tigers received one second-place vote it pushed the Bisons to fifth place. Harding received three third-place votes, one fourth-place and one fifth–place vote. Four-time defending GSC Champions West Florida was picked at the top of the poll receiving five unanimous first-place votes.

Alexander, a midfielder from Grand Praire, Texas, started 16 games last season for the Bisons and helped control the midfield. It is the first time he has been named to the preseason award.

Galloway, a forward from Normal, Ill., led the Bisons with seven goals and three assists and went on to receive 1st team All-GSC honors last season. It is the second time Galloway has received the preseason award.

The Bisons also had two top newcomers: Cameron Rose (freshman defender from Sachse, Texas) and Ryan Wilhelm (freshman defender from Greenville, Texas).

Harding opens the 2010 campaign on the road Sept. 2, traveling to Rolla, Mo., to take on Missouri S&T at 5 p.m.
