BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Harding women's soccer team was picked to finish fourth by the Gulf South Conference women's coaches in a release by the conference office Thursday. The Lady Bisons had four players listed as top newcomers this season.
Harding received one second-place vote, three third-place votes and two fourth-place votes in the poll. For the seventh consecutive season, West Florida was selected as the preseason champion, receiving six first-place votes and one second-place vote. North Alabama, who came on strong last season, was picked to finish second and Christian Brothers was picked to finish third.
The four top Harding newcomers were: Hannah Hatcher (freshman defender from Georgetown, Texas), Adriana Lucar (freshman forward from Lima, Peru), Ashley Royce (freshman defender from Albuquerque, N.M.) and Jenna Taylor (freshman midfielder from Bartlesville, Okla.).
The Lady Bisons kick off the 2010 campaign on Sept. 4 at home, hosting Palm Beach Atlantic at 1 p.m.
