Harding Game Notes
• Harding will go in search of its sixth straight victory Saturday as the Bisons host 5th-ranked Henderson State at 2 p.m. at First Security Stadium as part of Homecoming 2013. Harding is looking for only its seventh winning streak of six games or longer in program history and first since winning six games over the 2011-12 seasons.
• HOMECOMING NOTES: Harding is 35-16-2 (.679) in 53 previous Homecoming games. Harding defeated Arkansas Tech 76-23 at last season's Homecoming. Harding has hosted Henderson State three times for Homecoming and won all three games by six points or less--34-33 in 2003, 34-28 in 2006, and 27-22 in 2009.
• Saturday's game will be a matchup of Harding's rushing offense, ranked No. 1 in Division 2 (403.3 rushing yards per game) against Henderson State's rushing defense, ranked No. 2 in Division 2 (63.6 rushing yards allowed per game). The Reddies also have Division 2's No. 1 passing attack (435.6 passing yards per game).
• Harding is coming off a 36-33 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at A.U. Williams Field in Arkadelphia. The game-winning touchdown came on a 74-yard touchdown pass from
Keenan Kellett to
Donatella Luckett with 1:12 left in the game.
• Henderson State remained undefeated at 7-0 with a 45-14 victory over Arkansas Tech at the Boomtown Classic in El Dorado, Ark. The Reddies gained 556 total yards, including 458 passing. Arkansas Tech had only 26 rushing yards on 29 carries.
• Harding enters the game as D2's leader in rushing yards per game (403.3), yards per rush (7.33), and rushing touchdowns (34). The Bisons are the only team in D2 averaging more than 400 yards per game and one of two averaging more than 7.0 yards per rush.
• Four D2 teams have scored eight rushing touchdowns in a game this season. Harding is the only team to do it twice (vs. Northwestern Okla., 9/14 & vs. Ark.-Monticello, 10/12).
• Harding junior fullback
Romo Westbrook has rushed for over 100 yards in three consecutive games, reaching 171 yards on 21 carries at Southern Arkansas, 106 yards on six carries vs. Arkansas-Monticello, and 122 yards on 16 carries at Ouachita Baptist. Only three times in program history has a Bison rushed for 100 or more yards in four straight games: 7, Alan Dixon (Sept. 23-Nov. 11, 1972); 4, Alan Dixon (Oct. 17-Nov. 7, 1970); and 4, Chris Pierson (Oct. 18-Nov. 15, 1997).
• Harding also leads D2 with 29.81 yards per pass completion. The Bisons and quarterback
Keenan Kellett completed three passes for 115 yards against Ouachita Baptist, an average of 38.3 yards per reception.
• Harding has scored a touchdown in 21 of 24 quarters played this season.
• Harding and Henderson State are meeting for the 49th time with the Reddies leading the series 30-17-1. Henderson State has won five of the last six meetings, but Harding holds a 13-9-1 advantage in Searcy.
