RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Harding had 14 players named All-Great American Conference on Tuesday as the conference released its postseason honors. Slot back Zach Shelley became the first Harding football player ever to earn conference Freshman of the Year, and senior Darious Lane earned two 1st Team honors.
Harding's seven 1st Team honorees include: senior fullback Romo Westbrook, senior wide receiver Donatella Luckett, senior offensive lineman Tory Day, senior defensive tackle Romas Roberson, senior outside linebacker Dennis Buckner, senior cornerback Darious Lane, and Lane earned his second honor for his special-teams play.
The Bisons had eight players receive 2nd Team honors. They included: senior slot back Ahmad Scott, senior fullback Alapeti Magalei, senior center David Lee, senior offensive lineman Mike Gallaway, sophomore defensive end Trevon Biglow, sophomore inside linebacker Daylan Skidmore, and senior Devonte Britt.
Westbrook and Luckett both earned their third All-GAC honor. They are the 12th and 13th Bisons to earn three or more all-conference honors. The last Harding player to earn three straight all-conference honors was offensive lineman Ross Conn (2006-08). It is Westbrook's third straight 1st Team award.
Harding's season will continue Saturday in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. The Bisons take on Pittsburg State at 1 p.m. in Pittsburg, Kansas.
