SEARCY – Harding designated hitter/catcher Davis Richardson received first-team Capital One Academic All-America honors Wednesday.
Richardson, a resident of Kennesaw, Georgia, is the third Harding baseball player to earn Academic All-America and the first first-team honoree. Kevin Burton was a third-team recipient in 1995, and Jason Nappi was listed on the second team in 2011.
A senior academically, Richardson has one year of baseball eligibility remaining. In 2015, he led the Bisons in most statistical categories, including batting average (.325), home runs (8) and RBIs (37). A first-team All-Great American Conference selection, Richardson tied for the team lead with 17 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games.
Richardson is an interior design major with a 4.00 GPA. He is the fifth Harding student-athlete to receive Academic All-America during the 2014-15 school year, the second-highest total in university history. In 2013-14, Harding totaled six Academic All-Americas.
