Women’s Soccer Advances to GAC Tournament Championship Game

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Harding women's soccer team held on to a 1-0 victory over Ouachita in the opening round of the Great American Conference Tournament. The Lady Bisons advance to the GAC Tournament Championship game and will play the winner of Southwestern Oklahoma/Southern Nazarene game on Saturday at 11 a.m.

It was the second-straight year and the third overall, Harding has advanced to the GAC Tournament game. The Lady Bisons defeated Southwestern Oklahoma last season in the title game 5-3 in Searcy.

RECORDS

No. 3 seed Harding improves to 11-6-1 on the season and No. 2 seed Ouachita ends their season with an 8-8-2 record. It was the sixth-straight year, the No. 3 seed as advanced to the GAC Tournament game.

GOALS

Harding 1, Ouachita 0 – 13th minute – Morgan Springborn took a corner kick that fell to Bethany Sutherland who hit a cross in front of the goal for Carley Stevens to body in.

TEAM STATS

Harding took 15 shots, seven were on goal. The Lady Bisons had 10 shots in the second half.

It was the third time this season Harding has scored a goal off a corner kick.

Ouachita took six shots, four were on goal.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

It was Carley Stevens sixth goal of the season. It was Bethany Sutherland's sixth assist and Morgan Springborn's fifth assist.

Sutherland led Harding with five shots, three were on goal. Four other Lady Bisons had one shot on goal.

Bryson Rial and Dina Harper each took two shots in the game for Ouachita.
