Roux, Zarate Valdez Earn Wins in 5-2 Loss to No. 5 Midwestern State

Box Score STILLWATER, Okla. — The Harding University women's tennis team secured two singles victories despite falling 5-2 to No. 5-ranked Midwestern State University on Friday.

Karli Roux delivered a thrilling 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 win over No. 6 nationally-ranked Jessica Binzari at the No. 2 singles spot. Alexia Zarate Valdez, ranked No. 14 nationally, also earned a hard-fought 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Hannah Yip at No. 1. Roux's win came over the highest-ranked player ever defeated by a Lady Bison in the NCAA era.

The Lady Bisons struggled in doubles play, dropping all three matches.

Harding dropped to 3-2 overall and plays Saturday at 5 p.m. at Central Oklahoma.
